Camaro T-Top Conversion Kit

Drop Top Customs, who beat everyone else (including Chevrolet) to the punch on the Camaro Convertible have created a new custom Camaro package. This time, they're offering a Camaro T-Top Conversion kit for $6500. My first car ever was a T-Top, and I have a special fondness for them, so seeing this come to fruition with my favorite car is great. The T-Top Camaro looks sleek and stylish, and should be a great middle ground between the Convertible and the Coupe for someone who wants a little extra wind in their hair while driving without having to sacrifice vehicle performance and flex.

The T-Top kit, while great looking, is not without its flaws and questions, though. Drop Top Customs removed the reverse Mohawk top of the Camaro, which has become one of its most immediately synonymous features, with this kit. The T-Top is also only being shown in roof continuation styling, and I'd like to see a glass-top option instead. Also, with the $6500 price tag, one has to question what sort of warranty is included. Do they guarantee against leak protection, or offer warranty in case of issue with said leakage, or a locking/clasp mechanism malfunction? Hopefully these, and many other answers, will be answered at this year's SEMA when Drop Top Customs highlights their Camaro T-Top Conversion Kit.

Anderson Silva’s Custom Camaro

Anderson Silva, the current UFC Middleweight Champion and UFC's longest continual reigning Champion, is a bad-ass. There is no arguing this. This man knocks out people bigger and scarier than him, and makes it look easy. So, what type of car does a man this hardcore drive? Obviously, the only car with enough personality, attitude, savvy, and cool to match him: a Camaro. His Camaro is not just any Camaro, either. Anderson Silva had just ordered a fully customized Camaro from West Coast Customs, that is an absolute beauty.

Made up in Black and Yellow, the number of visual modifications performed on this car are a long list alone. There's no official list of the modifications installed on the vehicle, but they begin with a custom paint job, custom rims, stitching, brake duct intake cut-outs and screens on a custom front fascia, and an aggressive and gorgeous looking ground effects body kit. All of this is topped off with Anderson Silva's trademark Silva Bee logo on the front grille and engraved in the headrests.

West Coast customs has built a name for themselves worldwide as one of the premiere mod shops, and this Camaro is no exception to that at all. By ordering this gorgeous Camaro, Silva joins a list of other notable famous bad-asses who drive the Camaro. We can only assume that Silva, Sylvester Stallone, Randy Couture, and Ric Flair drive their Camaros to match their macho-man characters. Its amazing then, to realize, that the Camaro has the machissimo to fit these drivers, as well as the sophisticated cool, class, sex-appeal, and refinement to work for so many others. The list of celebrities driving Camaros seemingly grows every day, and this Silva custom Camaro is one of the coolest ones to make that list.

Synergy Green Camaro Debuted

The New Green Machine: 2010 Camaro Synergy Special Edition

DETROIT, Jan 14 – Today, Chevrolet debuted the 2010 Camaro Synergy Special Edition. The special edition will be produced in limited quantities from February to May, with pricing starting at $26,790.

“The Synergy Special Edition package is designed for customers who want a unique performance car at an attainable price,” says Camaro marketing manager, John Fitzpatrick. “For under $27,000, Camaro Synergy Special Edition offers standout styling, modern technologies like Bluetooth, and 304 horsepower under the hood.”

The 2010 Camaro Synergy Special Edition is based on a Camaro 1LT, with a 3.6L direct injection V-6, paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The powertrain has become a benchmark for the segment by offering a combination of performance and efficiency: The V-6 delivers 304 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, and returns up to 29 mpg on the highway.

The Synergy Green exterior color was first previewed at the 2009 SEMA show. In production form, the Synergy Green is accented by Cyber Grey Rally Stripes running the length of the Camaro hood and rear deck. Other exterior features include a standard rear spoiler, and standard 19 inch, Sterling Silver painted wheels wrapped with P245/50R19 tires.
The color scheme is mirrored on the interior, with Synergy Green instrument panel and door inserts. Synergy Green stitching also accents the Jet Black cloth seats, steering wheel, shift knob and center console. The Special Edition also includes the Camaro Convenience and Connectivity Package, with Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB port for MP3 players, and remote vehicle start for models equipped with an automatic transmission.

“Synergy Green continues a long tradition of dramatic Camaro colors,” says Camaro historian Scott Settlemire. “Some of the most sought-after Camaros are first generation cars – those from 1967 to 1969 – in Hugger Orange, Daytona Yellow, and Rallye Green. Just as those colors helped make the first generation Camaro an icon, modern colors like Inferno Orange, Rallye Yellow Transformers Edition and Synergy Green will define the 2010 Camaro.”

Big SEMA Update! Pictures galore!

Well, it's the end of the week and I have received a ton of pictures and info from SEMA on some of the different Camaros that were shown there. I'm going to post some today, and expect more to come in the following week! Below are some of my favorites and details on each one:

DSO Eyewear's Urban Camaro

Apparently DSO Eyewear customized this Camaro to support the active Urban lifestyle. I sort of thought the Camaro did that already, but never the less, they did a good job on some customization touches here. The window trim looks great, and the sound system inside is a big step up from the stock Camaro entertainment system (that is, entertainment not pertaining to the actual thrill of driving). The polished stainless touches on the side skirts and rear bumper/diffuser are a nice addition as well.

Camaro Dusk at SEMA

This Camaro Dusk is finished in a fantastic dark metallic blue, which works really well on the car. The ground effects, while subtle, are a great touch for the Camaro. The custom interior looks fantastic, and is a nice touch to the vehicle as well. The performance bonuses are minor, with a custom Billet exhaust being the only major performance touch for the vehicle, but with a car that looks that good and already performs as spectacularly as it does, we wont hold that against them.

Camaro Dusk

Ok, so, this next one was a little disappointing to see. That Camaro that websites were saying would be the next Z28 (and I must admit, I bought in to the hype also) was in actuality a custom Camaro made by Chevy for America's most famous car collector: Jay Leno.

Leno Camaro

I must admit, the vehicle looks great and I am certain Mr. Leno is ecstatic to be the owner of it, but it did disappoint me a good bit to learn that it was not the Z28. Outfitted with twin Turbometrics turbos, Tremec 6060 6-Speed Transmission, and just about every customizable under the sun (Exhaust, intake, pressure plate, discs, hood, fog lamps, lip soiler, rear rocker, rear diffuser, and more), this is definitely one of the prize Camaros at the event. Maybe they will use this as a basis for creating the Z28, I like the styling a lot.

Ok, here's one more for today, and expect more to come still:

Camaro 2Go by Rick Bottom Designs

Well, I said the Leno Camaro was one of the prize machines at all of SEMA, but this right here is the baddest of the bad! This Camaro 2Go by Rick Bottom designs has a list of modifications too long for me to duplicate here. I'll give you the short-hand version though: extremely custom look, extremely custom suspension, braking, handling, performance, everything. Just how custom is it? How about 1000+HP Vortech Supercharged with suspension built to handle over 1G of force on a skid-pad. ARH full Exhaust system, Fedoro and Baer brake components are just a few other awesome components to the vehicle. That sick enough for you? Yeah, I thought it would be.

Anyways, keep up with me as I give you more from SEMA in the week to follow.
