GM Reworking Camaro Interior for 2012
From Camaro5:
"A GM insider confirmed for us that the company is hard at work now on a substantially reworked interior for the Camaro that will appear for the 2012 model year. He couldn't/wouldn't list all of the changes, but did mention that most of the upgrading work will go into the dash and specifically that big expanse of blackness in front of the passenger.
Also new for the 2012 will be a little something called the Camaro Z28. Perhaps you've heard of it once (or a million times) before. Why wait until the 2012 model year? Our source says so it doesn't step on the toes to the convertible which will be the Camaro's "big news for 2011."
Well, I'd absolutely believe that the interior would be reworker for 2012, as with the HUD and other touches they've already started on this, and it is one of the few places that people have complaints with the vehicle at all. Where I get hung up though is with yet another promise from some unknown, unnamed source that we will have a Z28 at some point in time. We keep hearing this, and every single one makes me more and more skeptical. Until GM gives an official notice that they will definitely be making a Z28 and here's the release date, I won't hold my breath. I want to see one, very badly, GM so help me out with that!
Camaro Convertible Spied
First posted on Edmunds, this video (caught in Michigan) shows a test mule of the new Camaro convertible driving around the Michigan streets. The vehicle looks really good and the conversion to convertible looks very clean (much better than those photoshop jobs from earlier this week). The vehicle also appears to be pretty much finished, so I imagine it will start its production run soon. I can't wait to see one of these bad boys live on the streets near me with the top down.
Gen6 Camaro to get new platform?
According to a recent MotorTrend report we're beginning now to get some information about what the 6th Generation Camaro will be like (seems a little premature, no?). Apparently GM is developing a new RWD platform that will take place of the SIGMA platform on the Cadillac CTS and be the base by which the 6th Gen Camaro is also built. This platform will be the ALPHA platform. This seems a little odd of a move, but I'm alright with it personally, to announce this right now before the second year of the Camaro has hit dealerships. So, this platform will be hitting dealers in 2014, and the Camaro is scheduled (tentatively) for 2015 right now. Other changes discussed here: The 6th Gen Camaro is expected to be lightened by a good bit from the 5th Gen; Also, apparently the engine in the Camaro will not be a naturally-aspirated, but instead either a turbo or super-charged V6. It seems the goal is to continue increasing Camaro performance while also increasing its EPA gas consumption rating to guarantee it will continually be able to beat whatever Mustang Ford throws at it. All very interesting stuff, but, having just bought my Camaro not too long along, too soon for my liking to hear about!
Camaro Convertible Test Mule Shots
So, someone caught some spy images of a new Camaro Convertible test mule. The vehicle is obviously in the pre-production stages, but should not only lend some idea as to how the Chevy Camaro Convertible will look, but also some assurance to all those awaiting the vehicle that the testing and production of it are still happening and on schedule, it would appear. Personally, I like the tan top on the dark car, and think that the color combo there actually works really well for this Camaro. What do you think?
Can’t wait for SEMA! Will we see the return of the Z28 officially there this year?
Facebook, what hath thou wrought? Yesterday, the internet automotive community was abuzz because of you and something one of your users posted. Is that, could it possibly be, the new Camaro Z28?! Boy, we sure do hope so!

This possible Z28 image was leaked on Facebook
SEMA starts today, and starting tomorrow I'll be providing you with updates from the event myself, but until then all I can do is troll the internet and get my hopes up as to what the event will offer me. This image, which clearly shows a very mean, very bad-ass looking Camaro on the SEMA floor, has brought upon a number of speculations that this may be the new Z28. Nothing is official yet, but the vehicle absolutely looks the part. Those hood-vents are mean looking, and an already gorgeous front-end has been improved upon. Reportedly the Z28 will include the LSA powerhouse underneath its hood when released. For those who don't quiet remember what that is, we're talking about a 556 HP and 551 Lb-Torque engine being used to power the Cadillac CTS-V. Imagine that beast in the Camaro. Drooling yet? Yeah, me too.
